Alasdair MacKinnon has been on the front line of conflict resolution mediation, negotiation and training for over 35 years.
Alasdair had over a 20 year career in the RCMP and dealt daily with individuals and families in high conflict and crisis situations. While in the RCMP Alasdair was trained in principled negotiations. He served for 5 years on the Frog Lake Cree, First Nations Reserve and on Fishing Lake Metis Settlement and served 4 years on the Red Deer City RCMP Public Relations Unit.
He completed his B.A. Degree in English at Mount Allison University in New Brunswick, a Certificate in Conflict Management in Mediation and Negotiation, a Certificate in Arbitration and a Certificate in Environmental Management through the University of Calgary. After retiring from the RCMP, Alasdair worked for 10 years for the Natural Resources Conservation Board in the area of environmental compliance and inspections and in conflict resolution.
In 2006, Alasdair founded MacKinnon Communications Group Inc. which offers a variety of conflict resolution services and training workshops in effective collaborative communication, conflict mitigation and leadership skill building.Alasdair is a nationally Chartered Mediator and Registered Family Mediator. He is the past President of the Alberta Family Mediation Society and currently serves on the Board of Directors for the ADR Institute of Alberta. Alasdair has completed well over 800 mediations and is a contract instructor in Continuing Education for both Olds College and Red Deer College and the ADR Institute of Alberta in conflict mitigation, effective communication and leadership training.
